My credit card has been hacked!

Just when this day couldn't get any worse. I found out that my credit card has been hacked.

Earlier today, I was trying to budget my expenses so since I didn't have my credit card bill yet I called the hotline to check my balance. I couldn't believe what I just heard so I asked the customer support person to tell me all my transactions since the time I paid my last bill. Everything matched my records and receipt except for one transaction:

A cash advance of Php 7,000 from China Bank last December 8, 2009

I was like WTF?! That just can't be! Here's why:

1.  I have never used and inserted my credit card in any ATM machines ever. I have been warned long before by my friends that cash advances have high interests. So it has never crossed my mind to do that.

2. I don't even know my PIN! Because of #1, I threw away my PIN a long time ago since I didn't have any plans of doing their Cash Advance thing.

3. I had my credit card the whole day with me. Didn't have work on that day. So DJ and I along with our other Fil-Am friends went to Divisoria early in the morning for some Christmas gift-shopping and pasalubong-shopping for their families and friends in the States. Got home around 12 noon and napped til 5 in the afternoon. Went to Robinson's Ermita for a quick dinner and stayed in Starbucks til past midnight coz DJ had to study. I never used my credit card that day.

This totally ruined my day. The customer support person filed for an investigation already and it's gonna take around 45 days. I hope they do something about it sooner than that because there's no way i'm paying 7,000 pesos.

Nope. Chinabank ATM daw. I asked them if they could track the branch and time of transaction but the customer support girl said she can't daw. But that will appear on the investigation daw.

So your card was stolen?
Diko gets like how a withdrawal could have been done at an ATM.

Joei: I hope so too. :(

Russ: No my card wasn't stolen at all. Kaya it's super weird na nagkaron ako ng cash advance eh i didnt withdraw naman sa kahit anong ATM ever. Haay..
